Bernhard Weidinger erörtert die Rolle akademischer Burschenschaften (Graz, Innsbruck, Leoben, Linz, Salzburg und Wien) im politischen Geschehen der Zweiten Republik Österreichs. Basierend auf der Auswertung von umfangreichem, bislang von kritischer Forschung nicht erschlossenem Quellenmaterial behandelt er eine Vielfalt an Aspekten: von der Restauration des deutschnationalen Verbindungswesens nach 1945 über den burschenschaftlichen Umgang mit der NS-Vergangenheit bis hin zum Einfluss der Verbindungen auf die Entwicklung der FPÖ.
